Hotel Union to Provide 90,000 Free Covid-19 Tests
The NYC union will cover all tests for members and their families
Amid fears of coronavirus, many are concerned about the cost of getting tested. The New York Hotel Trades Council wants to ensure that all of their members and family stay safe by ensuring that everyone is tested. Read more about it below from the NY Daily News.
The health insurance plan run by the city’s powerful hotel workers union will soon offer more than 90,000 people tests for the coronavirus.
About 40,000 workers and 50,000 of their relatives and union retirees are covered by the plan run by the New York Hotel Trades Council.
The union’s single-payer health network is entirely employer-funded and is jointly offered by the union and the Hotel Association of New York City, which represents hotel management.
Starting at the end of this week, workers and their dependents will be able to walk into their plan’s health centers and get tested for COVID-19 if they’re showing symptoms or are deemed at risk.
