The 2015 Young Workers Summit

The AFL-CIO's Next Up Young Worker Summit gathers young activists fighting for social and economic justice all across the nation. The annual summit will take place at the Hilton Chicago on the weekend of March 19th to 22nd this year. Unfortunately, as they enter the labor market after school, millions of young people endure high unemployment and chronically low wages. This has been true for a long time and their situation is even worse today. Even as the economy begins to grow again, young people face the brunt of the most recent recession. Fortunately, the youngest generation of workers in this country is also the most educated, active, and diverse in history. They are college graduates, activists, and the sons and daughters of immigrants and working-class families. The AFL-CIO's conference seeks to turn their immense potential into a force to reckon with within the labor movement and the political and economic landscape as a whole. Attendees will learn how to strategize and address the challenges they and their unions face daily. Visit nextupsummit.org for more information on scheduling and housing. IBEW Local 3's Chris Erickson Jr will be there and hopefully he can grab us some audio.
