Newsday disgraces police memorial dedication ceremony
A message from James Carver, President
Below is the text of a letter from the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association to the publisher and opinion editor at Newsday regarding their coverage of the dedication of our police memorial. We invite the community to go and visit the memorial located on the south lawn of Police Headquarters at 1490 Franklin Avenue in Mineola. We think you will agree that it is a fitting tribute to the men and women who served the people of our county with dignity and pride and lost their lives in the line of duty.
On behalf of our union, we hope that Newsday's disgraceful coverage did not upset the families who lost loved ones in the line of duty. We are proud of our police professionals, and all the positive contributions we make to our beloved Long Island. I encourage you all to contact Newsday as well, because the demonization of our police officers will not stop unless we are proactive and diligent. Gob bless you all and be safe.
