While most Americans are struggling to get by, a privileged few have made bank over the past 3 years. CEO pay has risen about 37 percent since 2009! That's right, as Americans are losing jobs and dropping out of the labor force - those who run the companies that cut jobs are making more then ever. Companies claim higher CEO pay will attract the best talent, but what about the people carrying out the actual work? The incentive to pay these workers should be higher then ever. In today's economy companies need skilled and fairly paid labor to make sure the actual business runs. The median CEO salary in 2012 was $9.7 million, while the average American made $39,000 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This evidence shows the money has flowed overwhelmingly to the wealthiest few, while the rest are still struggling to make ends meet.
