Equal pay today!
Women are still earning 77 cents for every dollar men earn. Even after years of political advocates fighting for women's equality, women, especially home health-care aides, are struggling to break past minimum wage. Six years ago, in the Supreme Court case of Coke v. Long Island Care at Home, the court denied Evelyn Coke, a former home-care agent, overtime pay. She ensured care and safety to elderly patients. "Women's Work" jobs aren't offered fair wages, they make pennies in comparison to other professions. President Obama has made strides to guarantee fair pay for women in his Fair Labor Standards Act, and his actions are celebrated this month.
