UCOMM Blog has covered other organzing campaigns by Tronc employees, including at the Chicago Tribune, and the LA Times.  The company's track record of firing employees, like they recently did at the NY Daily News, precedes them.

Now the Communications Workers of America are reporting that employees at the Virginia-Pilot and the Daily Press, newspapers based in southeast Virginia, have asked parent company Tronc to voluntarily recognize their union. More than 75% of the newspapers' employees have signed authorization cards to be represented by the NewsGuild-CWA. Below is a video that the Tidewater Media guild made asking Tronc to recognize their union.
