AFL-CIO Taking a Stand Against Kavanaugh
They are urging every union member to call their Senator to oppose his nomination
After an intense hearing, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted today to recommend the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Senate. While Senator Mitch McConnell hopes to vote on the nomination over the weekend it appears that Senators Flake and Murkowski have blocked that by saying they will not vote in favor of Kavanaugh until an FBI investigation is done.
In the meantime, the AFL-CIO is urging all union members to call their Senators and ask them to vote no on the nomination. UCOMM Blog has previously reported about the dangerous anti-worker rulings that Kavanaugh has handed down. As the swing vote on the court, he could be the deciding vote on a number of important cases that take away collective bargaining rights and weaken worker protections on the job. Below is an ad that the AFL-CIO has created laying out the reasons to tell your Senator to vote no.
The AFL-CIO has also created a handy graphic that clearly shows who Kavanaugh has supported while he has been a judge and who he has opposed. They are asking that union members please share this graphic on their social media channels as well.
