For the last four years, Trump has been hitting up his rich friends, getting them to finance his campaign. In return, these donors got special treatment from Trump, like meetings in the White House where they pushed him on a reopening strategy, as was the case with some major fast-food donors. However, a deeper dive into Trump’s donors reveals some major names and major brands supporting his reelection.

While everyone seems to love Marvel, their former CEO Isaac Perlmutter is a large Trump donor. Both he and his wife Laura made a $575,000 contribution to Trump at the beginning of April and another $360,600 donation at the end of April. As of 2019, Perlmutter was still working with Marvel. Thanks to his large donations to Trump, Perlmutter has become an informal advisor to Trump on veterans’ issues. He was even named one of three people that Trump authorized to direct policy at the VA, including allowing them to issue instructions to Secretary of Veterans Affairs Peter O’Rourke. As UCOMM has previously reported, the unions that work at the VA have had to endure four years of constant attacks culminating with Trump referring to the workers at the VA as sadistic thieves.

One of the largest donors on the list includes the Uihlein’s, whose family owns Uline a shipping and business supply company. In January, Elizabeth Uihlein donated $575,000 to Trump’s Victory PAC and then donated another $1,000,000 to the America First PAC, a Trump-aligned Super PAC.  Her husband, Richard Uihlein, also donated to a number of conservative groups, including donating over $26.5 million to the anti-union Club for Growth. The couple has been major donors to groups like the Right to Work Legal Defense Fund and helped to bankroll the Janus v AFSCME case that made the public sector Right to Work.

Perhaps the biggest name on the list is Augustus Busch III, the great-grandson of Anheuser-Busch founder Adolphus Busch and the former CEO of the company. Busch donated $500,000 to Trump in February as well as another $400,000 to the Republican Super PAC that is working to win back Congress. In total, Busch donated over $2.5 million so far this year to Republican candidates, PAC’s and committees.

Stephen Wynn, the Las Vegas casino mogul, was another big donor to Trump. In March, just as federal and state governments were failing to create a cohesive plan on how to deal with COVID-19, the casino magnate donated $468,500 to Trump. Additionally, Wynn donated $4,000,000 in August to the Senate Leadership Fund, whose goal is to protect the Republican Senate majority, and another $1,000,000 to American Crossroads, the Karl Rove run Republican Super PAC.

Another billionaire donor to Trump is Home Depot founder and former CEO Bernard Marcus. In 2016 Marcus was one of Trump’s biggest donors, donating $7 million between him and his wife. This year he has continued to support Trump, donating $360,600 in May. He has also donated $4,000,000 to the Senate leadership Fund and $2.8 million to various Republican House leadership committees that are working to win back the House of Representatives.
