The Senate began hearings today for the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Over the last few months there has been a lot of media coverage around this, even UCOMM Blog covered his labor record. While all of the cable news networks are covering the hearings live, we decided to make it easy on our readers and provide a list of some of Kavanaugh worst decision on labor issues.
- American Fed. Of Gov’t Employees, AFL-CIO v. Gates- he ruled that the Department of Defense had the authority to curtail or curb their employees' collective bargaining rights.
- Trump Plaza v. United Autoworkers -Kavanaugh helped Trump block at union drive at his hotel and casino in Atlantic City.
- Seaworld v. Department of Labor- he sided with SeaWorld when the theme park challenged a citation for exposing its trainers to recognized hazards when working with killer whales.
- Venetian Hotel and Casino v. NLRB- he ruled against the union stating that the hotel’s management was right to request that police issue citations for protesting on public property outside the casino
