In an email we received from the National Nurses United, we learned that the Republicans in Washington are attacking our   A new proposal from Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL) would make the problems at the Veteran’s Association (VA) worse by removing fundamental civil service due process rights of all frontline VA workers. This legislation would make it harder for nurses and other frontline VA employees to speak up for their patients and easier for them to be unfairly scapegoated for problems they have nothing to do with.  This is on top of this, the VA is facing a $2.5 Billion shortfall.

Instead of Congress working to prevent nurses from advocating for their patients, Congress should be taking action to protect our hero’s and nurses.  The National Nurses United is urging everyone to call their elected officials to demand that they support nurses and properly fund the VA.  All Congress needs to do is transfer surplus funds from other parts of the Veteran’s Administration to help cover the healthcare deficit that the VA faces.  Please email your Senators and Representative today to tell them to oppose S. 1082 and H.R. 1994, and to grant the VA the authority to utilize existing funds so that crucial services for our veterans are not curtailed. You can email them here.
