Oregon, this week is poised to become the 4th state in the country to require paid sick days.  In a bill that passed the state assembly and is expected to be signed by the Governor, would give workers 5 paid sick days for any employee in a business with 10 or more employees.  Estimates say that 47% of workers and 70% of low wage workers, do not have access to paid sick days in Oregon.

In other state news, the Democrat controlled house in Maine, successfully blocked a right to work bill that was being pushed by the Republican Governor and Republican state senate.  The legislature also blocked bills that would have ended paycheck deductions and a bill allowing union officials to conduct union activities during the work day.
