New York State United Teachers has taken a stand against the states over-reliance on standardized testing under the new Common Core Curriculum. A new print and online campaign calls for parents to unite in a strong push-back against the states over-reliance on standardized testing. Under a state law passed last year test performance will partially determine how a teacher's job performance is rated. Teacher jobs will be unfairly at risk as test scores are expected to fall due to the new Common Core curriculum starting next year. The New York Principals, a grassroots group, has gathered over 1,500 signatures on a petition opposing the new system. Beginning this week the ad campaign by the NYSUT is pushing for more parents to recognize the faults in continual student testing to create positive school change. You can give them a hand and sign the petition yourself by clicking the image above.
