The GSEU will be holding three meetings for members in the month of March.  The dates, times, and locations are listed below.  At these meetings we will discuss union business and concerns (such as the controversial Academic Excellence and Success Fee) and we ask members to present any issues or concerns they may have.  Each meeting will cover the same material (so you only need to attend one) and typically last for one hour.  Food will be provided and all meetings are held at 200A Commons on North Campus.  All members are strongly encouraged to attend!
  • Monday, March 18th at 3pm
  • Thursday, March 21st at 2pm
  • Friday, March 22nd at 3:30pm

As a reminder, the University at Buffalo (UB) and the Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU) are pleased to announce the availability of funds for the Professional Development Awards Program funded under the 2007-2009 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the State of New York and the GSEU. This program is designed to support a variety of professional development projects and activities that help teaching and graduate assistants develop their full potential and prepare for advancement. Completed applications must be received via email at ub-IndividualDevelopmentAwards@buffalo.edu by 5:00, Friday, July 12, 2013.  Please be sure the scanned documents are signed.  General questions can be directed to Michele Reno, Assistant Director, Employee Relations at mreno@buffalo.eduor Debby Lagesten, Secretary, University Human Resources alagesten@buffalo.edu.

Lastly, we are in need of student mobilizers to help increase union membership.  It is vitally important, particularly for our contract negotiations with the state, to have as many official members as possible.  This volunteer work would entail very little time on the part of the mobilizer.  Anyone interested please contact Kevin Ryan, the chief steward of the GSEU at UB, atkdryan@buffalo.edu, or by calling at 716-440-3116.
