Construction Jobs Growing
The Bureau of Labor Statistics has released a new report that says that construction jobs are expected to be one of the fastest growing job categories over the next 7 years. In their report they expect to add 478,000 new laborers and carpenters by 2022. Other job categories that are expected to grow include mason and stone layers, which should increase by 35%. This increase is due to an increase in construction projects after 5 years of limited building since the housing bubble burst. Economist believe that this new increase in development will mean lots of jobs for new workers, since 40% of construction trades members either changed fields or retired following the recession. This past June also had the lowest unemployment rate for construction workers since 2001 and the highest weekly hours worked since the statistic was first tracked in 1947.
