Ellis Nurses are mad
In what will be the largest ever nurses' strike in the Albany region in recent years, National Nurses United have issued a 10 day strike notice. The 600 Schenectady nurses voted in June to authorize a strike. The nurses, who work for Ellis Medicine, have announced that they will conduct a one day strike to advocate for quality patient care for Schenectady residents. RNs in the bargaining unit have presented proposals to management that would raise patient care standards, provide affordable healthcare for caregivers, safer staffing ratios for nurses and fair wages that meet the state median for RNs. Ellis Medicine has proposed outsourcing of vital services, fast tracking patients and boosting revenue through increased outpatient clinics and services.
