With Labor Day less than a week away, union members from across the country will be marching in parades and taking part in events to celebrate the holiday. At the UCOMM Media Group, we work with a wide range of unions, from Teachers to Electrical Workers to Communications Workers. With our clients being based in union strongholds throughout the Northeast, many will be taking part in some of the biggest Labor Day parades in the country. Below are some of the parades UCOMM clients will be marching in.

New York State Fair: Every year International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 1249 and 97 march on Labor Day at the state fair in Syracuse, NY.

Massena, New York: Now in its 39th year IBEW Locals 2032 and 1249 march in the parade. Local 2032 was one of the original founders of the parade along with UAW Local 465.

South Plainfield, New Jersey: Every year IBEW Local 94 takes part in the South Plainfield Labor Day Parade. Last year, Local 94 marched with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

New Haven, Connecticut: On Labor Day, Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1298 takes part in the New Haven Road Race. The local will be sponsoring a water station at the race, which serves as the US Track and Field Association’s 20KM championship.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: On September 2nd, the city of Pittsburgh hosts one of the country’s largest Labor Day Parades, with over 60,000 people attending. This year, IBEW Local’s 29 and 459 will be marching. In 2018 former Vice President Joe Biden was the Special Guest of Honor at the parade.

New York City: On Saturday, September 7th, the New York Central Labor Council hosts the United States biggest Labor Day Parade. Every year hundreds of thousands of union members march up Fifth Ave to celebrate Labor Day. Last year IBEW President Lonnie Stephenson marched and this year Liz Schuler, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO will be leading the parade. Local 3 IBEW and CWA Locals 1104,1108, and 1109 are all expected to take part in the parade.
