Talks between the United States Postal Service and two of their biggest unions, the American Postal Workers union (APWU) and the National Rural Letter Carriers stalled last week and will now be headed to mediation. "We did make significant progress in our discussions with the Postal Service over the past few months," said NRLCA President Jeanette Dwyer. "Unfortunately, the parties were unable to agree on the core financial issues that are critical to reaching an overall agreement." The APWU has been holding high profile rallies across the country. One recent rally in Washington DC included action star Danny Glover. Members are also being encouraged to wear buttons and stickers to let management know the level of support for a fair contract.
