Organizing Victories across the country
A new NLRB tool shows us that organizing campaigns are winning all over the country
Lately a lot of news coming out of UCOMM Blog has been negative. We have been covering a National Right to Work push, a case challenging fair share fees for public employees, and the chaos surrounding Trump’s picks for Labor Secretary. While we have been getting a lot of positive feedback about these negative stories, our mission here at UCOMM Blog is still to focus on the good work coming out of the union movement and to give you as much good news as possible.
While looking for good news, we came across this great resource from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that shows us all of the recent successful organizing campaigns. The search tool allows you to see, based on region, which elections have been called and which workplaces have successfully voted to organize. Just in January 8 new elections were held in the Mid-Atlantic area including successful union campaigns for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Law Enforcement Officer Professional Association and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100.
While the right has tried to push the narrative that union membership is shrinking, these successful union campaigns show that employees are still talking union and that they want an organized voice at their workplace. Constantly check back with UCOMM Blog over the coming weeks as we continue to talk about these successful organizing drives and highlight the great work that union organizers are doing.
