Verizon says See Ya to Texas
Frontier Communications and the Communications Workers of America District 6 have come to an agreement that will cover employees with Frontier in Texas and Missouri as well as new customers acquired in Texas. This is an important step in the sale of Verizon’s wireline business to Frontier in Texas, California and Florida. The CWA supports the sale and believes it is in the consumer’s best interests. The deal honors the previous collective bargaining agreement for the next 2 years. The contract, which covers 2,000 CWA members, includes a clause that all work will done in the USA. In other organizing news The Guardian US, the US affiliate of the popular British Newspaper, voluntarily recognized the staff union. The employees, which mostly work in digital media, will be joining the News Media Guild, an affiliate of the CWA.
